After serving in the Pacific Theatre as a field and hospital medic in the U.S. Army, Alvin J. Harris, M.D.F.A.C.S. graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where he instructed medical and nursing students as well as physicians in post-graduate courses.
In Los Angeles, California, he served on the staff of the Children’s Hospital, guiding residents in clinical and surgical techniques. While tending to his private practice, he served as chief of the orthopedic section at the Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys and the Holy Cross Hospital.
He practiced for twenty years in Washington State and founded the Sequim Orthopedic Center. As an expert witness, he has testified in litigation resulting from vehicular and industrial accidents, as well as physical abuse, and trauma.
When he isn’t writing, Al attends lectures at the university or researches information for his novels. He occasionally squeezes in a game of golf with his wife, Yetta.
